About Fire Services Training Institute

Welcome to the Fire Services Training Institute. This website is designed to address the needs of various viewers from within the fire service, public safety and those involved in our training programs as well as access to member services.

Our services are free, but membership is required. Once you have registered you will have immediate access to the FSTI Library Portal, “Table Talk with Ronny J. Coleman,”  and “The Briefing Room with Michael S. Williams.”

Once a member, you will also be eligible to join the Los Angeles Area Fire Marshal’s Association “LAAFMANet,” “FSTINet” and for active duty arson/cause and origin peace officers and investigators, “CalArsonNet.” These free list-serve platforms reach thousands of fellow members

providing a substantial resource for answers to most any question. They also provide an effective method to get the word out about your training events.

This site also provides information about FSTI and how you can participate in our library program and donate to help fund our projects. FSTI is supported by corporate donations and individual sponsorship.

FSTI has provided training to the volunteer public safety community since 2006. It has been our mission to provide high quality training to firefighters while at the same time promoting community safety.

The Challenge

To assure availability and quality into the 21st century, the California fire service needs standardized training and certification. To achieve this goal, private industry and individual communities must actively support fire fighter training and fire prevention programs.

Corporate Structure

FSTI is a California non-profit, tax exempt, public benefit corporation based in Santa Barbara, California. FSTI is part of the California State Firefighters’ Association corporate family.

The National Response Framework

It is the intent of FSTI to promote and facilitate the National Response Framework by providing quality training for public safety so as to improve the overall emergency and disaster-response readiness of all first responders. All training programs, regardless of content, will stress the principals of the plan as well as compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS).
